Software engineer for systems that can't go down
I specialize in backend development for mission-critical systems, currently building healthcare software that operates 24/7. My work spans new feature development, technical modernization, integrations with internal and external systems, production support and incident analysis.

Backend Engineering
Designing and maintaining backend functionality in Java, Kotlin and Spring Boot — from analysis and technical design through to production.

Working on SpoedEPD, a business-critical application that supports out-of-hours GP posts 24/7 with triage, patient registration, medical record-keeping and data exchange with other healthcare systems. My scope ranges from new functionality and technical modernization to integrations, production support and incident analysis.
- Develop and maintain backend functionality with Java, Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Deliver features end-to-end: from analysis and technical design to implementation, testing and production.
- Design and implement REST APIs and OpenAPI specifications for communication between internal and external systems.
- Build and maintain connectors for retrieving, processing and exchanging patient, record and referral data.

Audit Trail Modernization
01- Problem
- The existing Audit Trail functionality within SpoedEPD was based on legacy code that was hard to maintain and extend.
- My role
- Investigated the existing implementation, designed a new technical solution and rebuilt the backend functionality.
- What I built
- Analyzed the legacy code, worked out a new technical design and developed new REST endpoints for consistent, maintainable access to audit data.
- Impact
- A cleaner, more maintainable way to expose audit data, reducing complexity and making future changes easier.
Medical Data in Referrals (Nictiz)
02- Problem
- Medical data within referrals needed to be exchanged reliably with other healthcare systems according to national standards.
- My role
- Improved the processing and transfer of medical data within referrals.
- What I built
- Qualified and structured data in line with Nictiz information standards so it could be exchanged safely with other healthcare systems.
- Impact
- More reliable, standards-compliant exchange of medical information between healthcare systems.
Healthcare System Integrations
03- Problem
- SpoedEPD needed to retrieve and process data from external healthcare systems and directories.
- My role
- Implemented integrations with internal and external healthcare systems.
- What I built
- Built integrations with systems such as VIPLive and VZVZ Zorg-AB to retrieve and process healthcare-provider data, supporting flows like MITZ and MP9.
- Impact
- Enabled accurate, up-to-date healthcare-provider and consent data across connected systems.
AI Consultation Summaries (PoC)
04- Problem
- GP–patient conversations are time-consuming to document manually.
- My role
- Developed an AI proof-of-concept for analyzing and summarizing GP–patient conversations.

- Built a proof-of-concept integrating Juvoly to analyze and summarize consultations.
